Kasabian have revealed that they hope to play the Glastonbury festival next year. The band, 'Song of the Year' and 'Best Album' who currently won at the Mojo Awards, missed out on this year's lineup but are keen to perform next year. Bang Showbiz quotes singer Tom Meighan as saying: "Last year was amazing so hopefully we'll be about next year and play it."I remember the sun going down and I had straw jacket on and long hair blowing everywhere all these flags - it was wonderful."Of their next album, he said: "We've got a record coming. We're going to start recording it in the winter, in October. I can't give you any names - I can't say anything."

At '80s-influenced Mojos Kasabian scoop best song

Kasabian leicester rockers scooped song of the year with "Fire" at the Mojo music awards on Thursday on a night when the influence of 1980s pop was an overriding theme.
London's Florence and the Machine came away empty handed, however, despite leading the nominations with four. The awards, arranged by Mojo magazine and partly decided by readers voting online, are officially called the Mojo Honours List.
In the contemporary categories, Richard Hawley picked up the best album prize for "Truelove's Gutter," The Low Anthem were voted breakthrough act of the year and Texan band Midlake won best live act.
Psychedelic experimentalists Amorphous Androgynous scooped the best compilation with "A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding In Your Mind Volume 2 - Pagan Love Vibrations Compiled And Mixed By The Amorphous Androgynous."
In the non-contemporary categories, The Stone Roses' eponymous 1989 record was named classic album, while 1980s Liverpool act The Teardrop Explodes received the Mojo Inspiration award. Marc Almond, best known for his work with Soft Cell in the 1980s, won the Mojo Hero award.
"The 1980s are almost the new 1960s," said Phil Alexander, Mojo magazine's editor-in-chief. "You can hear the influence of that decade everywhere."

Kasabian : Florence and The Machine go head to head with Kasabian

FANTASTIC FLORENCE WELCH has scored four nominations for this year's MOJO awards.
The singer's band Florence & The Machine go head to head with Kasabian for Best Live Act, Song Of The Year and Best Album.
They are also up for Best Breakthrough Act.
Sheffield-based rockers Arctic Monkeys and RICHARD HAWLEY are each up for two gongs at the London bash.
Paul Weller , RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and MUMFORD & SONS are also in the running for honours.

Kasabian: V Festival headline slot

The band have been announced as headlining this year's V Festival alongside Kings of
Leon. The festival will be held on 21st and 22nd August at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire.

Muse and Kasabian win top NME Awards

Paul Weller was saluted by the rock community when he was bestowed with the Godlike Genius title at the ceremony.
But Oasis, who were up for three main awards, were snubbed by the magazine's readers after their split last year.
They lost out to old rivals Blur in the best live event category, while Arctic Monkeys were named best live band.
NME editor Krissi Murison said 3.6 million votes had been cast to determine this year's winners.
Muse beat Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro and Kasabian to the best band trophy, and singer Matt Bellamy said the win was "a great surprise".
"I didn't expect to win that one at all," he said. "It's very humbling to win that." The band also won best website.

Kasabian were given a second prize for best album artwork for West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.
Oasis were also up for best video, but that went to Biffy Clyro for The Captain.
Noel and Liam Gallagher were not at the ceremony, but the band's guitarist Gem Archer was on stage, performing as part of Weller's band.

The nominees for this year's NME awards have been announced, giving Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and, er, generally boys with guitars lots of reasons to be chuffed. The shortlist's other leading acts include Muse, Oasis, Biffy Clyro, and Florence and the Machine.

Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian each received six nominations, including best British band, best album, best live band and best video. Muse trail with four nominations. Oasis, who won the prize for best British band last year – and then promptly broke up – are again nominated.

"The NME awards is the one ceremony where you see the bands who have really meant something and made a difference get justly rewarded," editor Krissi Murison told BBC 6 Music. By happy coincidence, most of the acts that "really meant something" seem to involve guitars. By our clumsy estimate, 21 of the 29 nominees are guitar-based bands. Led by male singers.
At last year's awards, only two winners, MGMT and Dizzee Rascal, were not merely lads with guitars (MGMT, after all, are lads with guitars AND lots of keyboards). Even the winners for worst band and worst album – the Jonas Brothers – have Stratocasters. But lads playing indie rock are what NME readers love best.

"The great thing is," Murison said, "there's no predicting which way the fans will vote!" We just wouldn't put any money on La Roux.

The Shockwaves NME awards take place on 24 February at the O2 Academy in Brixton.
