Won a Q Awards to Kasabian, U2 and Lily Allen




U2, Kasabian, Lily Allen and Lady GaGa, the results of the QAwards have been released and they have all lifted gongs.
The Best Track award Lily Allen won for her song The Fear, while U2’s album The Unforgettable Fire took the Classic Album prize.
Lady GaGa won a gong for Best Video, for her song Just Dance, while R&B star The Breakthrough Artist of 2009 Mr Hudson was named.
Kasabian were another band to be victorious, lifting the Best Album accolade for their West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum track.
Edwyn Collins, Marianne Faithfull and The Specials were others to be recognised at this year’s Q Awards, which took place today, October 26, in London.
The full list of winners is as follows. Best New Act was won by White Lies; Breakthrough Artist was lifted by Mr Hudson; Best Track was won by Lily Allen for her song The Fear; Best Video went to Lady Gaga for Just Dance; Best Live Act was won by Artic Monkeys; Best Album was won by Kasabian for West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum; and Best Act In The World Today was lifted by Muse.
The Classic Song award went to Frankie Goes To Hollywood for Relax; the Q Classic Album was won by U2 for The Unforgettable Fire; Innovation In Sound was won by Sonic Youth; the Classic Songwriter award was won by Yusuf Islam; The Q Idol award was lifted by Spandau Ballet; the Outstanding Contribution To Music was won by Robert Plant; The Q Inspiration Award was won by The Specials; The Q Icon accolade was won by Marianne Faithfull and the Q Legend award was picked up by Edwyn Collins.
Comedian Al Murray, who dressed as his Pub Landlord character, presented the awards, and made the comment that 2009 was a poor year for music because of the “sad demise of Oasis".
